BOSTON, Mass. – UMass Lowell junior guard
Angel Montas Jr. (La Romana, D.R.) has earned his second straight America East Player of the Week nod, as announced by the league office on Monday.
This week, Montas Jr. averaged 22.0 points and 5.0 rebounds per game to help propel the River Hawks to two America East road victories and stay perfect early in conference play.
The guard first recorded a personal-best 27 points and 13 field goals in a win at Bryant on January 8 before finishing the week with 17 points, including the three that gave the River Hawks the lead for good with less than two minutes on the clock in a closely-contested battle at Binghamton on Jan. 10.
So far this season, Montas Jr. has impressed, averaging 11.1 points and 4.5 rebounds per game, including 21.0 points per game in the last five games.
