BOSTON, Mass. – After a big offensive week from the forward, freshman Nora Belin (Stockholm, Sweden) was named the America East Rookie of the Week, as announced by the league office on Monday afternoon.
Belin took advantage of her minutes, as the freshman totaled three goals for six points in two victories this past week for the River Hawks. She saw 28 minutes of action during Thursday's match versus Stonehill, collecting her first career goal in the game. Belin was also a threat in the offensive zone on Sunday's outing at New Haven, as the forward posted a season-high two goals, while also scoring in her second consecutive game. Her two goals were scored in the first seven minutes of play against New Haven, expressing her ability to attack the net.
At this stage of the season, Belin has appeared in six games for UMass Lowell, making one start, while also logging 192 minutes played with three goals for six points so far.
Along with the America East Rookie of the Week award, Belin has also been named River Hawk of the Week. The "River Hawk of the Week" is chosen in voting by the UMass Lowell Athletic Communications staff. It honors the top athlete, male or female, based on performance during the previous week of competition.
