BOSTON, Mass. – Following a strong opening to the 2025 season, senior Maddie Guthrie (Stow, Mass.) was selected as the America East Offensive Player of the Week, as announced by the league office on Monday afternoon.
Guthrie was a big factor in the season opener against the CAA North preseason favorite, Stony Brook, this past Thursday. The midfielder acted as the primary corner taker, displaying her remarkable crossing ability, accumulating a personal-best three assists, while also playing 90 minutes. Her second assist of the game helped set up the game-winning goal for the River Hawks over Stony Brook.
So far this season, Guthrie has started in the two games the River Hawks have played, totaling 160 minutes and collecting three points.
Along with the America East Offensive Player of the Week award, Guthrie has also been named River Hawk of the Week. The "River Hawk of the Week" is chosen in voting by the UMass Lowell Athletic Communications staff. It honors the top athlete, male or female, based on performance during the previous week of competition.
