EUGENE, Ore. – Graduate student
James Kotowski (Stoneham, Mass.) of the UMass Lowell men's track and field team finished eighth in the javelin at the 2025 NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships Wednesday evening at Hayward Field in Eugene, Oregon, garnering First Team All-American honors.
On his fifth toss of the day, Kotowski rifled one 75.18 meters (246' 8") to earn his best mark of the season and best of his career at a collegiate meet. This mark sits just behind last year's 75.69m throw at the 2024 U.S. Olympic Trials.
This was Kotowski's first First Team All-America honor of his career in his first NCAA Championship appearance.
"What a great way to cap off an amazing career!" said Head Coach
Gary Gardner. "He works so hard day in and day out and he has earned everything he has accomplished. (Coach) Barbara has done such a great job with him and I am equally happy for her."
