River Hawks Scheduled to Travel to Holy Cross and Bryant

LOWELL, Mass. – The UMass Lowell softball team (8-18, 4-4 AE) prepares to take on non-conference opponent, Holy Cross (6-23), on Wednesday, April 9 in a doubleheader set for 2 p.m. This will be followed by a weekend series at Bryant (11-21, 3-6 AE) in America East play starting on Saturday, April 12 with a doubleheader at 1 p.m., with a single game on Sunday, April 13 at 12 p.m.

Series History 
UMass Lowell holds a 7-0 all-time record versus Holy Cross and a 7-10 all-time record against Bryant.  

Last Time Out for the River Hawks 
The River Hawks most recently played UAlbany in a doubleheader, falling 8-0 in game one, before dropping 6-5 in game two.

Freshman Thyanais Santiago (Methuen, Mass.) was 3-for-5 at the plate and freshman Madi Wade (Hagerstown, Md.) went 2-for-3 between the two contests. Freshman Kate Hardy (Alexandria, Va.) notched an extra-base hit on the day.  

Sophomore Olivia DeCitise (Troy, N.Y.) got the start in game one, earning two strikeouts. Senior Jen Slanovec (Bethlehem, Pa.) came in for relief, recording one strikeout. Junior Giana LaCedra (Tyngsboro, Mass.) was in the circle for game two and tallied four strikeouts.  

Leading UMass Lowell 
With 19 at-bats, Wade holds the best batting average at .316, also leading the on-base percentage category at .409. Through 82 at-bats, freshman Emily Baumes (Rexford, N.Y.) posts a .305 batting average. Baumes has the most hits on the team with 25 and the most RBI with 12. Sophomore Elizabeth Neeld (Huntingdon Valley, Pa.) guides the team in slugging percentage with a .389 average. Neeld also ranks high on the stat sheet in on-base percentage as she holds a .397 average. 

DeCitise continues to register the lowest ERA for the River Hawks with a 4.05 average through 73.1 innings pitched. She has a 4-6 record with 76 strikeouts so far this season.  

Extra Extra 
Senior Emily Tow (North Kingstown, R.I.) and freshman Avery Spinello-Branch (Lorton, Va.) each have nine stolen bases.

Patience at the Plate 
Hardy leads the River Hawks in walks with 11.  

Weekly Winners 
Baumes was selected as America East Rookie of the Week twice and Spinello-Branch recorded one Rookie honor. DeCitise earned an America East Pitcher of the Week selection. Baumes and DeCitise each have picked up a River Hawk of the Week highlight. 

America East Rankings 
UMass Lowell currently ranks fourth in the America East, with a 4-4 conference record.  

Spinello-Branch leads the conference in sac bunts with seven. Spinello-Branch and Tow claim the three and four spots on the leaderboard for stolen bases with nine apiece. 

Scouting the Crusaders 
Holy Cross recently competed against Boston University in a series, dropping all three games to the Terriers.  

Anna Brait leads the Crusaders with a .329 batting average through 85 at-bats. Ali Sniegocki posts the most hits with 29 and the most RBI with 12, as well as the best slugging percentage as she holds a .552 average. Emma Fong has earned a .438 on-base percentage to lead Holy Cross.  

Avery Toddings registers the lowest ERA on the team at 3.03 through 32.1 innings pitched. Jordon Goedel struck out the most batters for the Crusaders at 53. Sophia Roncone has seen 81 innings in the circle and has the most wins with a 3-12 record. 

Scouting the Bulldogs  
Bryant recently faced Binghamton in a series, falling in all three contests to the Bearcats.  

Meaghan Houk posts a .366 batting average for the Bulldogs through 71 at-bats. Houk also holds the best slugging percentage at .577, the best on-base percentage at .427 and the most RBI with 21. Bryce Clendenin has earned 30 hits this season to guide Bryant.  

Maddy Wachter posts a 4.12 ERA with 59 innings in the circle and 41 strikeouts to hold a 6-4 record.
