Trio of River Hawks Garner America East All-Conference Honors

4/30/2025 3:05:00 PM

BOSTON – Following the conclusion of the 2025 season, the UMass Lowell men's lacrosse team had three River Hawks tabbed with All-Conference honors, as announced by the conference office on Wednesday afternoon.

Graduate student Garrett Murphy (Billerica, Mass.) was named to the America East All-Conference Second Team, as well as the All-Academic Team, while freshmen AJ True (Manchester, N.H.) and Danny Burke (Eden Prairie, Minn.) were tabbed to the conference's All-Rookie Team.

"I'm really excited for these guys to have their hard work recognized," said Head Coach Drew Kelleher. "Garrett, Danny, and AJ would be the first to tell you that these don't happen without the hard work of our entire team."

Murphy, who has served as a two-year captain for the River Hawks, totaling career-highs with 19 goals, nine assists, and 28 points. The graduate student added 11 ground balls, the second most in his career, and provided the game-winning goal in the team's 15-7 victory over Mercyhurst. Although he was consistently finding the back of the net, ending the season on an 11-game scoring streak, his best performance came in the conference opener against Binghamton when he scored a personal-best five goals and six points. A great representative of UMass Lowell on the field and in the classroom, he posted a 3.82 GPA as a business major while making the Dean's List four times.

True, who served as the starting goalkeeper in 11 of the team's 13 games, made his mark right away, as he made 15 saves with a .625 save percentage to help lead the squad to a 14-9 victory over Merrimack to open the season. He continued to excel all season, totaling seven games with double-digit save performances on his way to 134 saves and a .494 save percentage, ranking second in both saves and saves per game in the America East.

Burke, meanwhile, proved to be a prolific scorer, ranking as not only the points leader for the UMass Lowell offense but as one of the best scorers in the America East. Leading the team in both assists (15) and points (32), Burke ranked seventh in the conference and first amongst America East rookies in points per game (2.46) as well as fifth in the league in assists per game (1.15). Starting in all 13 games for UMass Lowell, Burke recorded at least two points in all but three games, highlighted by a career-best five points and four goals, including the game-winner, in the team's one-goal victory over Wagner.
