Four River Hawks Garner America East All-Conference Honors

BOSTON, Mass. – Four members of the UMass Lowell men's basketball team have earned America East All-Conference honors, as announced by the league office on Friday morning.
 
Fifth year Max Brooks (Waldorf, Md.) garnered his second consecutive All-Conference First Team nod, in addition to his third straight All-Defensive Team recognition. Fifth year Quinton Mincey (Upper Marlboro, Md.) received his second All-Conference Second Team selection, as well. For the second year in a row, the River Hawks earned a major award based on the vote among the league's coaches, as freshman Martin Somerville (Bowie, Md.) was named America East Rookie of the Year in addition to taking a place on the All-Rookie Team. Additionally, fifth year Anthony Blunt (Glen Dale, Md.) was tabbed to the All-Academic Team to round out the UMass Lowell honorees.
 
Brooks has turned in the best season of his career with 15.6 points and 7.8 rebounds per game in 2024-25. He leads the league and is third in the country with a career-high 83 blocked shots and adds a personal-best 32 steals. Shooting an incredible 70.1% from the floor, Brooks is ranked first in the nation and went an NCAA season-best, 12-for-12 on field goals against Dartmouth. He has logged 10, 20-point games and seven double-doubles so far this year with a season-high 30 points against UMBC on February 20. The big man also set a new all-time program record for career blocks at UMass Lowell, surpassing a 35-year-old mark, and is currently fourth all-time in the America East with 301. This year, he became the program's all-time leader for games played and the Division I program leader for rebounds, as well.
 
Mincey, who was a two-time America East Player of the Week this year, has also put together the best campaign of his tenure, boasting a team- and career-high 16.6 points per game. He sits second on the team with 6.4 rebounds per game and has added 88 assists, 18 steals and 14 blocks. The guard set a new personal best with 17 rebounds at UMBC on Feb. 1. Previously this season, he reached the 1,000 career points milestone against Maine on January 23 after logging a career-high 31 points against Quinnipiac on November 23. Overall, he has registered 15, 20-point games and 11 double-doubles in 2024-25.
 
Somerville has made an immediate impact in his debut season, garnering America East Rookie of the Week honors on 11 occasions to surpass the conference record that previously stood for 21 years. He is third on the team with 13.9 points per game, good for a UMass Lowell DI record among true freshmen. Additionally, he averages 2.9 rebounds per game with team bests of 113 assists and 46 steals. His 41% clip from three-point range ranks second in the conference and he is fifth overall with an 82% free throw percentage. 13 assists against UMBC on Feb. 20. He totals 25, 10-point games, including a personal-best 26 points against NJIT on Jan. 11. His 13-assist performance against UMBC on Feb. 20 marked the most helpers in a game for UMass Lowell since 1981, as well.
 
Blunt is currently pursuing his MBA in the Manning School of Business. He has appeared in all 31 games this season, averaging 3.8 points and 3.2 rebounds per game with 58 assists and 18 steals.
 
The River Hawks are set to visit the Maine Black Bears for the quarterfinals of the America East Playoffs on Saturday, March 8 at 6 p.m.
