Ben Meehan (Walpole, Mass.) of the UMass Lowell ice hockey team has signed an amateur tryout contract (ATO) with the Iowa Wild, the AHL's affiliate of the Minnesota Wild, as announced by the organization Sunday afternoon.
Meehan spent five years with the River Hawks and was a two-time team captain. He finished his fifth year playing in all 36 games and tying his career-high with 17 points on three goals and a team-leading and career-high 14 assists. Over his career, he racked up 13 goals and 55 assists for 68 points in 145 games played. He is also a three-time Hockey East Defender of the Week and earned Hockey East All-Academic team honors three times in his career.
Meehan was originally selected by the Los Angeles Kings in the fifth round (140th overall) in the 2020 NHL Draft.
