LOWELL, Mass. – Three total athletes from the UMass Lowell mens' and women's indoor track and field teams teams earned America East All-Academic honors, announced by the conference Wednesday afternoon. Senior
Luke Stelmach (Sterling, Mass.) (School of Criminology and Justice Studies) represented the men's squad, while senior
Sarah Ross (Agawam, Mass.) (Francis College of Engineering) and graduate student
Alexandria Grasso (North Reading, Mass.) (Master of Business Administration) each earned women's All-Academic honors.
Stelmach is now a three-time All-Academic honoree, earning the recognition for both the indoor and outdoor seasons last year. He currently boasts a 3.90 GPA while pursuing a degree in Criminal Justice.
This marks the fourth time that Ross has been named to the All-Academic Team, most recently picking up the honors after this past cross country season on November 26. She is also a three-time recipient of the conference's Elite 18 Award, which acknowledges student-athletes that exemplify excellence both in their sport and in the classroom. She holds a 4.0 GPA in the difficult major of Plastics Engineering. Grasso joins Ross on the All-Academic Team for the second time of her career, after earning herself a spot on the list last winter. She achieved a 3.75 GPA as an undergraduate student in Biomedical Engineering, and now boasts a 3.83 GPA in the MBA program here at UMass Lowell.
