BOSTON, Mass. – After going 9-for-13 at the plate with three home runs in four games last week, senior outfielder Alex Luccini (Hopedale, Mass) has been tabbed the America East Player of the Week, as announced by the conference office on Tuesday morning. 

Luccini appeared and started in all four home games last week, batting .692 (9-13) while slugging 1.615 and posting an on-base percentage of .778. In his 13 plate appearances, the senior hit three home runs, a double, and a triple while tallying six RBI and eight runs. Although he stayed hot all week, Luccini's best performance came in Saturday's doubleheader when he went 6-for-6 with two homers, a double and a triple as part of a four RBI and five run day.

So far this season, Luccini has posted .346 batting average, a .731 slugging percentage and an on-base percentage of .454. The outfielder totals 27 hits in 21 starts, including six doubles, three triples, and six home runs, along with 18 RBI and 22 runs. 

This is Luccinis' first America East Weekly honor. For his efforts, he was also tabbed the River Hawk of the Week. The "River Hawk of the Week" is chosen in voting by the UMass Lowell Athletic Communications staff. It honors the top athlete, male or female, based on performance during the previous week of competition.
