River Hawks Close Home Schedule vs. Bryant, Binghamton This Week

LOWELL, Mass. - The UMass Lowell men's basketball team (16-12, 5-8 AE) plays its final homestand of the regular season when it hosts the Bryant Bulldogs on Thursday, February 27 at 6 p.m. and the Binghamton Bearcats on Saturday, March 1 at 1 p.m. for Senior Day.

A WIN WOULD
A win against Bryant would move the River Hawks to 17-12 on the season and move the team to 6-8 in conference play. They would also move to 6-1 all-time against the Bulldogs.

LAST TIME OUT
Fifth year Quinton Mincey recorded team bests of 20 points and seven rebounds, as the UMass Lowell men's basketball team faced an 85-61 setback at Vermont on Feb. 22. Freshman Martin Somerville chipped in with 11 points and four steals. Fifth year Yuri Covington added nine points, as well.

LEADING THE FLOCK
Four River Hawks are averaging double-digits, as Quinton Mincey leads the charge with 16.4 points per game. Behind him, Max Brooks adds 15.3 points per game alongside a team-best 7.9 rebounds and 75 blocks, while Martin Somerville boasts 13.9 points in his first season, including a team-high 65 three-pointers and 44 steals. Yuri Covington rounds things out with 11.3 points per game.

HOME SWEET HOME
Costello Athletic Center has been very kind to the home team during the last three seasons, as the River Hawks are currently 40-4 in the building since the start of the 2022-23 campaign, including 13-3 in 2024-25.

OFFENSIVE EXPLOSION
The River Hawks ignited for 98 points against UMBC on Feb. 22, marking the most points scored against a DI opponent this season. Max Brooks led the way with 30 points, good for just the third 30-point game by an America East student-athlete this season.

ETCHING HIS NAME
Martin Somerville continues his impressive rookie season, setting a new DI single-game program record with 13 assists against UMBC on Feb. 20. His performance marked the most helpers in a game since 1981 when Ray Carroll registered 16.

NATIONAL NEWS
UMass Lowell is currently ranked in the top 25 in the nation in three team categories, including free throw percentage (21st).

SHARP SHOOTERS
UMass Lowell is first in the league and tenth in the country for field goal percentage, shooting 49.2% from the floor. For the second year in a row, Max Brooks is leading the way in efficiency for the squad and is ranked first in the country with a 69.8% clip on field goals. He is also 11th nationally among active NCAA career leaders (64.0%). The big man went a perfect, 12-for-12 on field goals against Dartmouth, matching the NCAA record this season and marking the best performance by any player nationwide since the 2021-22 season.

GOING UP AND STAYING UP
The team plays well when they get out in front, owning a 10-4 record when leading at halftime so far this year.

HELPING HANDS
The River Hawks' passing and connectedness has been on full display this year, as the team has logged eight games with over 20 assists so far. The team is currently second in the America East with 15.1 assists per game.
