LOWELL, Mass. – The UMass Lowell softball team (0-5) will head to Buies Creek, N.C. for the Camel Invitational, taking place on February 14-16 at Amanda Littlejohn Stadium. Up first, the River Hawks will face Campbell (4-1) on Friday, February 14 with first pitch set for 5:30 p.m. On Saturday, February 15, UMass Lowell will play Eastern Kentucky (3-2) at 10:30 a.m. and Lafayette (0-0) at 1 p.m. Sunday calls for a single game with a rematch versus Lafayette set for 1 p.m.

Last Time Out for the River Hawks
The River Hawks most recently faced SIUE in the UTSA Invitational, falling 7-1 to the Cougars. Senior Emily Tow (North Kingstown, R.I.) went 2-for-3 on the day with one RBI. Tow and freshman Callie Stubbs (Salem, Ore.) each earned extra-base hits in the contest. Freshman Emily Baumes (Rexford, N.Y.) continued to shine this weekend, as she went 2-for-4 at the plate. Junior Giana LaCedra (Tyngsboro, Mass.) received the start in the circle, going three innings and striking out two. Sophomore Olivia DeCitise Troy, N.Y.) came in for relief, throwing the remaining three innings and also striking out two.
Leading UMass Lowell
Baumes stands out as she has had 17 at-bats in her rookie season so far to hold a .412 batting average. She has seven hits, with one extra-base hit, as well as two RBI and two runs scored. Baumes is one-for-one on stolen bases. She also owns a .500 on-base percentage and .471 slugging percentage.
LaCedra has been in the circle the most for the River Hawks so far, throwing 15 innings and striking out seven. DeCitise has thrown 11 innings with eight strikeouts to record the lowest ERA so far, 5.09.
Scouting the Camels
Campbell hosted the Camel Stampede and most recently grabbed a 12-4 win against East Tennessee State.
Charlie Montgomery has had 18 at-bats to record a .611 batting average, and starting in all five games played. She has earned 11 hits with three extra-base hits, five runs and three RBI. Hannah Cornetto currently holds a .417 batting average on 12 at-bats to earn five hits. She totals the most RBI so far with five.
Megan Gregory has pitched 9.1 innings to record a 3.00 ERA with one win.
Scouting the Colonels
Eastern Kentucky competed in the Buzz Classic, going 3-2 in the tournament. The Colonels most recently faced Belmont, falling 4-0 to the Bruins.
Sharyn Duncan and Jaelin Haynes both had 16 at-bats, and each posted a .313 batting average with five hits apiece. Kennedy Drafton currently leads the squad in extra-base hits with four, including a home run and five runs with four RBI.
Maddi Rutan has pitched 13.1 innings for the Colonels to earn a 1.58 ERA and grabbed one win so far this season.

Lafayette will begin its season this weekend, opening up with a contest against America East foe, Bryant on Friday morning.
