BOSTON - Halfway through the 2025-25 academic year, the UMass Lowell River Hawks currently sit in fourth place in the Stuart P. Haskell, Jr. America East Commissioner's Cup standings, as announced by the America East office on Wednesday afternoon.
The River Hawks total 97 points to sit in fourth place behind Vermont (138), Bryant (115), and only seven points behind New Hampshire (104).
For UMass Lowell, the fall season success was led by the women's soccer team, which brought in 31 points after a third-place finish in the regular season.
Next up, the UMass Lowell cross country program tallied a combined 28 points, highlighted by 18 from the men's team, which won its sixth straight America East Championship, while the women added a crucial 10 points.
Coming off their best season in six years, the men's soccer team added 21 points in a conference that included two teams that were consistently ranked in the top 10 national rankings, highlighted by seven points coming from their upset victory in the America East Quarterfinals.
Rounding things out, the UMass Lowell field hockey team added 17 points after earning a fourth-place finish and a home playoff game in the America East quarterfinals.
The Commissioner's Cup annually recognizes the strongest athletic program in the America East as determined by a scoring system that rewards a school for success both during the regular season and championship competition in the conference's 18 sports.

Haskell, Jr. Commissioner's Cup is as follows: In sports where regular-season round robin competition is conducted, the first-place institution in the final standings receives four points times the total number of teams involved in conference play. The second-place institution receives four less points; third place receives eight less points, and so on. Additionally, the America East (tournament) Champion receives two points times the total number of teams participating in the championship. The second-place institution receives two less points; third place receives four less points and so on down to the last-place institution which receives two points.
