Riley, Balogh de Galantha and Joseph Earn America East Weekly Awards

LOWELL, Mass. – Three different multi-event athletes from the UMass Lowell men's and women's track and field teams picked up America East Weekly Awards for their performances in this past weekend's Dartmouth December Invitational. Junior Brandon Riley (Weymouth, Mass.) earned Men's Field Athlete of the Week honors, while graduate student Fleur Balogh de Galantha (Grafton, Mass.) was named the Female Field Athlete of the Week and freshman Nyrah Joseph (Billerica, Mass.) collected the Female Rookie of the Week, as announced by the conference Tuesday afternoon.

Riley shined in the heptathlon at Dartmouth, breaking the school record with 5,241 points and breaking personal records in the 60m hurdles (8.36), pole vault (4.10m) and 1,000m run (2:54.86). Balogh de Galantha also stood out amongst the pentathlon field at the meet, tallying a personal-best 3,378 points for second place overall and hitting her personal-mark in the shit put with a 11.46m toss. Joseph competed in her first career pentathlon, finishing in third place overall out of nine total finishers with multiple personal records.
