River Hawks Set for Road Test at DePaul, Return Home Sunday vs. LIU

CHICAGO, Ill. — UMass Lowell continues non-conference play this week with a road matchup at DePaul on Thursday night before returning home to the Kennedy Family Athletic Complex to host LIU on Sunday afternoon.

A Win Would…
• Mark the River Hawks' first win against a BIG EAST opponent
• Provide momentum heading into Sunday's home matchup

Last Time Out
UMass Lowell picked up a road victory at New Haven, turning in its most efficient perimeter performance of the season. The River Hawks knocked down 11 three-pointers while shooting 50.0 percent from beyond the arc and held New Haven in check defensively throughout the contest. Senior guard Sabrina Larsson led the way with a career-high 22 points, connecting on six triples.

Scouting the Opponent
DePaul enters Thursday's matchup with a 2–8 overall record and a 0–2 mark in BIG EAST play. The Blue Demons are averaging 62.0 points per game while allowing 71.5 and are shooting 38.2 percent from the field and 28.8 percent from three-point range through 10 games. 

LIU comes into Sunday's contest at 4–5 overall. The Sharks are averaging 66.4 points per game while holding opponents to 61.3 and are shooting 38.5 percent from the field and 31.2 percent from beyond the arc through nine games.
 



NOTEBOOK: WHAT TO KNOW THIS WEEK

Balanced Production
UMass Lowell is averaging 57.0 points per game through nine contests while shooting 37.6 percent from the field and 28.9 percent from three-point range. The River Hawks have scored 60 or more points three times this season, highlighted by a season-high 82 points against Maine–Fort Kent. Defensively, Lowell is holding opponents to 57.6 points per game, keeping seven of nine opponents under 70 points.

Defensive Consistency
The River Hawks have limited opponents to 36.2 percent shooting from the field and 26.8 percent from three-point range. Lowell ranks among the America East leaders in both scoring defense and three-point defense, holding four opponents under 55 points. Only three teams have shot 40 percent or better against the River Hawks this season.

Control On the Glass
UMass Lowell is averaging 36.3 rebounds per game and has won the rebounding battle in five contests. The River Hawks have posted four games with 40 or more rebounds, highlighted by a season-high 57 against Maine–Fort Kent. A Night to Remember
Sabrina Larsson delivered a career performance at New Haven, scoring a career-high 22 points on 6-of-12 shooting. Larsson connected on a career-best six three-pointers on 10 attempts and went a perfect 4-for-4 from the free throw line. Her six made triples were the most by a River Hawk this season.

Home Business
UMass Lowell is 2–1 at the Kennedy Family Athletic Complex this season with wins over Saint Anselm and Maine–Fort Kent. The River Hawks are 4–1 when leading at halftime and have limited opponents to 52.0 points per game in home victories.
