River Hawks Head to No. 4 UConn for First Trip of the Season

11/6/2025 2:45:00 PM

HARTFORD, Conn. - The UMass Lowell men's basketball team (1-0) hits the road for the first time this season, visiting No. 4 Connecticut (1-0) on Friday, November 7. Tipoff is slated for 7:30 p.m. from Hartford with the game slated to be aired on Peacock.

A WIN WOULD
A win against the Huskies would mark the first win in program history against UConn, as well as the first win against a ranked team.

RUN IT BACK
Last season, the River Hawks compiled a 17-15 overall record, good for their third consecutive winning season, while notching six conference victories en route to an America East Quarterfinals appearance.

LAST TIME OUT
Austin Green registered a double-double with 21 points and 13 rebounds in a 107-55 victory for the UMass Lowell men's basketball team against Rivier on opening night at the Kennedy Family Athletic Complex. Three other River Hawks joined Green in double figures, as Khalil Farmer and JJ Massaquoi each tallied 14 points and Jared Frey chipped in with 10 points. As a team, the River Hawks shot 60% (39-65) from the floor, including 44% (8-18) from three-point territory.

A WHOLE NEW LOOK
This season brings a new level of anticipation, as UMass Lowell features an entirely new look, with 12 of the 13 players having never suited up for UMass Lowell. Despite the challenge of the unknown, Head Coach Pat Duquette is looking forward to seeing what his roster, which features eight transfers, two true freshmen and three redshirts can do.

INTO THE UNKNOWN
The River Hawks have been known for their high-percentage, high-scoring offense under Duquette, leading the America East in field goal percentage for the last three years. However, UMass Lowell joins at least 12 other teams in the nation this year in returning 0% of its scoring from a season ago.

STARTING STRONG
The win against Rivier on Nov. 3 marked the sixth straight year that the River Hawks have opened the season with a victory. It also gave the team its 12th consecutive win in its home opener.

ROAD WARRIORS
The River Hawks will be challenged during the non-conference slate in 2025 with 10 road games on the docket, compared to just five home contests.

HOME SWEET HOME
Costello Athletic Center has been very kind to the home team during the last three seasons, as the River Hawks are currently 42-5 in the building since the start of the 2022-23 campaign, including 1-0 in 2025-26.
