LOWELL, Mass. – Graduate student Jan Wouter Van Den Akker (Groningen, Netherlands) and freshman Will Conklin (Danvers, Mass.) of the UMass Lowell men's cross country team each earned America East weekly awards for their performances at the Paul Short Run this past weekend at Lehigh, as announced by the conference Monday afternoon. 

Van Den Akker was named Performer of the Week after an impressive showing in the men's gold 8k, where he finished in 11th place out of 344 runners with s personal-best time of 23:29.5. 

Conklin was awarded Rookie of the Week for crossing the finish line of the gold 8k race in 144th place with a personal-best time of his own at 24:38.9. 

Next up, the River Hawks will travel to Princeton for the Princeton Fall Classic on Friday, October 17.
