LOWELL, Mass. – The UMass Lowell women's basketball team (2-10) will start America East Conference play this week at Costello Athletic Center. First, the River Hawks will take on Maine (5-8) on Thursday, January 2 with a tipoff scheduled for 6 p.m., and then will face UAlbany (10-3) on Saturday, January 4 tipping off at 2 p.m.

Last Time Out for the River Hawks 
UMass Lowell most recently faced Massachusetts and was defeated by the Minutewomen, 53-33.  

Senior Amina Kameric (Seattle, Wash.) had a team- and career-best 12 points. She went 4-8 from beyond the arc and picked up a rebound. Sophomore Maddie Rice (Charlottesville, Va.) guided the team in rebounds with 12, while also tying her career record with four blocks, and put up three points and one assist.  

As a team, the River Hawks were able to outshoot the Minutewomen from behind the three-point line, 35.7% to 30.8%.   

Scouting the Black Bears 
Maine faced Coppin State in their last contest, grabbing the 66-55 win against the Bald Eagles. 

Caroline Bornemann and Caroline Dotsey each notched 17 points to guide the Black Bears to victory. Olivia Rockwood trailed with 11 points.  

Maine outshot their opponents from the field (41.5% to 38.3%) and beyond the arc (39.5% to 18.2%).

Scouting the Great Danes 
UAlbany's last contest was against LSU, as the Great Danes fell, 83-61, to the Tigers. 

Kaci Donovan led the team in points with 17, as she went 5-12 from the field and 3-6 from beyond the arc. Kayla Cooper and Lilly Phillips each totaled 14 points.  

The Great Danes were able to outshoot their hosts from the behind the three-point line, 26.1% to 7.7%.

The River Hawks hold a 3-20 all-time record versus the Great Danes.  

Leading UMass Lowell 
Sophomore Rayne Durant (New Haven, Conn.) leads the River Hawks, averaging 10.4 points per game, with 125 points on the season. Sophomore Abbey Lindsey (Staten Island, N.Y.) is right behind averaging 10.3 points per game.  

Rice is averaging 7.3 rebounds per game and leads UMass Lowell with 10 blocks so far this season.  

Watkins wraps up the stat sheet as she guides the River Hawks in assists and steals with 37 and 40, respectively.
