LAST TIME OUT
The River Hawks enter Thursday's fixture after picking up a 2-0 victory against CCSU on Sunday. Junior Oliver Holmstrom (Gävle, Sweden) and senior Shunnosuke Nakajima (Yokohama, Japan) each picked up a goal in the victory. Joining Holmstrom and Nakajima in the points column were freshmen Santiago Somorrostro (Nashua, N.H.) and Matteo Costa (Frankfurt am Main, Germany), each tallying an assist for their first career points. In net, junior JR Gawel (Leonardtown, Md.) made three saves to earn his first shutout at UMass Lowell.
LEADING THE FLOCK
Holmstrom, Nakajima, and junior Martin Harguindey (Buenos Aires, Argentina) each have found the back of the net once to lead the River Hawks through two games. While they lead the squad in points, Costa, Somorrorstro, and senior Yanis
Lakhlifi (La Crau, France) each have recorded an assist to pace the squad. Gawel has started and played all 180 minutes in net this season, totaling nine saves while only allowing one goal for a 1-0-1 record
FRESH FACES
Nine of the newest members of the squad have made at least one appearance in the first two games, including three who have started in both matches. Out of the newest River Hawks, Gawel leads with 180 minutes played, while freshman Cristiano Da Silva (Port Coquitlam, British Columbia) sits not far behind him with 146 minutes of action in two starts.
SCOUTING THE PEACOCKS
The Peacocks welcome the River Hawks to town coming off a 2-1 loss to George Washington. Graduate student Conlan Paventi leads the Saint Peter's offense with one goal and two assists in two matches, complemented by forwards Kaloyan Somov and Tim Strele, who have both scored a goal. In net, Pedro Alves has made two starts, allowing four goals while making 13 saves, good for a 0.765 save percentage.
SCOUTING THE TERRIERS
The Terriers come to Lowell with two ties to their name, first, a 0-0 draw against #9 New Hampshire, followed by a 1-1 match against Northeastern. Junior defender Quin DeLaMater tallies the only points on the season for Boston University, scoring the lone goal against Northeastern. Meanwhile, graduate student Andrew Wike has played all 180 minutes in net, making ten saves while allowing only one goal for a 0.909 save percentage.
A WIN WOULD
A win on Thursday would mark the first win in program history over Saint Peter's, and the best start since 2018 for the River Hawks. If UMass Lowell followed up with a win against the Terriers, it would be the first win over Boston University since 2019.
MATCHUP HISTORY
Thursday will be the first time UMass Lowell and Saint Peter's have battled, while Sunday's game marks the sixth against the Terriers, with the River Hawks currently holding a 3-2 series advantage.
