LOWELL, Mass. – Tuesday marks the first game in a five-game home stand for the UMass Lowell baseball team (11-17, 4-4 AE). The River Hawks host Merrimack (12-17, 9-6 NEC) Tuesday and Stonehill (8-15, 4-8 NEC) on Wednesday before hosting the Maine Black Bears (7-19, 3-5 AE) for an America East weekend series.

The River Hawks went 2-2 last week after falling to Dartmouth at home and beating Binghamton 2-1 in the weekend series.
Carlos Martinez led the team slashing .545/.727/.615 in four starts. Martinez, along with
Brandon Fish and
Trey Brown, tallied six hits over the four-game stretch.
Fritz Genther had a team-high seven hits while
Alex Luccini and
Conor Kelly tallied four RBIs each to lead the team. The River Hawks totaled 11 doubles in the four-game week as the offense found life in the Binghamton series.

Miles Cota picked up wins last week with impressive outings against the Bearcats.
Brian Foley earned his first save of the season against Binghamton while
Michael Simes and
Alfred Mucciarone led the squad with four strikeouts each in their respective appearances.
SCOUTING THE WARRIORS
Merrimack is 12-17 overall and 9-6 in conference play this season. The Warriors are riding a six-game win streak with wins over Wagner, Holy Cross and a weekend sweep of Central Connecticut. Christian Gemelli leads the team hitting .343 in 28 appearances. Bryce Dawson leads the team with 36 hits and 23 RBIs while Christian Scanlon has hit a team-high seven homers this year. Tyghe Healy leads the pitchers with 37 strikeouts while Brayden Ryan has a team-best 2.54 ERA and 3-1 record in eight appearances.
MATCHUP HISTORY
UMass Lowell is 10-8 against Merrimack dating back to the 2009 season. The teams split the season series last year with both sides winning on the road. The River Hawks took the first game 7-6 in North Andover before the Warriors claimed an 8-7 win in Lowell a week later. UMass Lowell is 6-3 at home against Merrimack.
SCOUTING THE SKYHAWKS
Stonehill holds a 8-15 overall record and has a 2-0 record against the America East this season. The Skyhawks beat Bryant in both contests this year, outscoring the Bulldogs 21-8 in two games. Stonehill went 1-2 against Le Moyne last weekend, dropping the first two contests before winning game three. Seven players have tallied at least 20 hits this season, bringing a balance to their offense. Jack Thorbahn leads the team with four homers and 21 RBIs in 23 games this year. Peter Haas leads the way on the mound with 28 strikeouts with a 2-6 record and a 6.12 ERA.

UMass Lowell is 5-8 against Stonehill dating back to the 2009 season. The River Hawks and Skyhawks met last season for the first time in 10 years. UMass Lowell won 10-3 at LeLacheur Park, its first win in the matchup since April 2, 2013.
SCOUTING THE BLACK BEARS
Maine struggled to start the year and holds a 7-19 overall record with a 3-5 mark in league play. The Black Bears picked up one win in each series against Bryant, UAlbany and NJIT for their three league wins, but have yet to win a conference series. Maine will visit UConn on Wednesday before making the trip to Lowell for the weekend. Zach Martin leads the team hitting .333 while Myles Sargent has a team-high 31 hits. Jeremiah Jenkins is a player to watch as the slugger has hit 12 homers this year to lead the league. Jenkins has 30 hits, 21 runs, 25 RBIs and 70 total bases to go with 22 walks this season. Jason Krieger leads the pitching staff with a 4.89 ERA in nine appearances. Gianni Gambardella has a team-high 44 strikeouts.

UMass Lowell is 17-27 against Maine dating back to the 2014 season. The River Hawks are 10-9 at home against the Black Bears and will look to add to their conference win tally.
