LOOKING AT UMASS LOWELL
The River Hawks enter the weekend after going 0-3 at William & Mary last time out. Carlos Martinez and Ryan Proto lead the offense hitting .357 and .350, respectively. Martinez also leads the team with 10 hits, four doubles, three homeruns, eight RBIs and 23 total bases. UMass Lowell has gotten offense up and down the lineup so far this season, with six other players tallying at least five hits through the first seven games. The River Hawks have gotten strong showings from plenty of pitchers, including LJ Keevan, Alfred Mucciarone and James Capellupo to start the year.

SCOUTING THE WILDCATS
Kansas State fell out of the top 25 rankings last week after going 2-1 against Holy Cross. The Wildcats also have wins over Boston College and Georgetown and losses to California and Arizona State in the early stages of the season. Jayden Lobliner leads the team hitting .393 in seven games with a team-high 11 hits and 13 RBIs. The Wildcats are active on the bases, going 25-26 on stolen bases in the first seven games of the year. Jackson Wentworth is 1-0 on the mound with a team-best 1.86 ERA. Owen Boerema leads the team with 24 strikeouts in three starts this season.

HEAVY HITTERS
UMass Lowell has hit seven home runs so far this season. Carlos Martinez leads the unit with three, all coming in an 11-9 win over High Point on February 17. Sean O'Leary hit his first collegiate homerun to win game one of the High Point series, a grand slam in the top of the 10th inning. Fritz Genther, Trey Brown and Matt Tobin have each tallied one homerun this season.

ON THE BUMP
James Capellupo has been sensational to begin his collegiate career. The Hilton, N.Y. native has made three appearances for the River Hawks and holds a 1-0 record with a 0.00 ERA. Capellupo has allowed just one hit, two runs and three walks while striking out a team-high 13 hitters. LJ Keevan and Brendan Williams have started the season well, each striking out seven hitters in two starts, and look likely to be weekend starters this year. Alfred Mucciarone has started two games and is 1-1 on the season, with three strikeouts to begin his college career.
