ALBANY, N.Y. – The UMass Lowell women's basketball team (4-22, 4-10 AE) dropped the second game of the road trip by a score of 59-39 to the UAlbany Great Danes (23-4, 12-2 AE) on Saturday afternoon.
Freshman
Abbey Lindsey (Staten Island, N.Y.) led the team with 14 points on 5-11 shooting. The rookie added three assists, two rebounds and one steal. Graduate student
Mili Carrera (Lima, Peru) scored six points and added three assists.

Maddie Rice (Charlottesville, Va.) led the team with five rebounds while redshirt junior
Sydney Watkins (Indianapolis, IN) made her return to the floor and tallied four points, four rebounds and two steals.
Back-to-back threes from
Mili Carrera had the game tied at 8-8 after the Great Danes opened the game with a 6-0 run. Carrera dished out an assist to
Alex Gitchenko whose layup fell to make it 11-10 to the hosts. UMass Lowell shot 50% from the field in the first quarter and trailed by four through ten minutes.
UAlbany opened the second with back-to-back makes to push the lead to eight points while the River Hawks started 0-2 from the field. The hosts defended well, forcing tough shots and stretched the lead to 10 before
Cire Worley's tough layup got UMass Lowell on the board in the second. The River Hawks hit a rut, going scoreless for two and a half minutes as UAlbany pushed the lead back to 10 points at the half.
Maddie Rice's driving layup got the River Hawks started in the second half. The hosts kept the lead at double digits before UMass Lowell battled back to cut the lead down to nine.
Alex Gitchenko knocked down a long-range two before the media break to keep the deficit at nine points. A late surge from UAlbany gave the hosts a 13-point lead through three.
The Great Danes hit shots early in the fourth to give themselves a 19-point edge three minutes in. The lead grew to 23 before
Abbey Lindsey knocked down the first make of the quarter for the River Hawks. UAlbany maintained the lead and won the game 59-39.
UMass Lowell returns to action on Thursday, February 29 at Bryant.
