The UMass Lowell baseball team is set to begin the 2024 season at High Point on Friday, February 16. Nick Barese enters his first season at the helm of the program after being named Head Coach in August.

Fritz Genther and Ryan Proto were named team captains in the fall and will lead the team into the new campaign. Proto enters his fifth season as the River Hawks’ backstop while Genther is set for his third season in Lowell.

The freshmen class consists of 11 players, including pitchers James Capellupo, Owen Hoyt, Alfred Mucciarone, Cam Sime and Kevin Rourke. Scotty Brown, Scott Donahue, Sean O’Leary, Ryan Strand, River Hart and Maico Cardona bring plenty of talent on the field and at the plate to complete the rookie class.

The non-conference road trip continues as the River Hawks will travel to Kansas State for three games to open March. Two midweek games at the home of the College World Series against Creighton precedes a weekend visit to Oral Roberts starting March 8.
