River Hawks Host Iona and Boston University

LOWELL, Mass. – The UMass Lowell women's basketball team (1-8) will take on Iona (2-6) on Tuesday, December 10, and Boston University (4-3) on Thursday, December 12, with both tipoffs scheduled for 6 p.m.

Last Time Out for the River Hawks
This past Saturday, the River Hawks picked up their first win at Le Moyne, 69-56.

Senior Alex Gitchenko (Ashdod, Israel) led the team with a career high of 19 points. She also contributed with seven rebounds, while adding four steals and two assists. Gitchenko went 9-13 from the field, grabbing 12 of her points in the first half. Sophomore Rayne Durant (New Haven, Conn.) also recorded a career high of 18 points, with five boards, two steals and one assist. Sophomore Abbey Lindsey (Staten Island, N.Y.) followed with 16 points, four assists, two rebounds and two steals.

As a team, the River Hawks outshot their hosts from the field, 50.8% to 31.4%.

Scouting the Gaels
Iona most recently won versus Stetson, 58-46.

Judith Gomez had a team best of 15 points, going 4-8 from the arc. She also collected two boards, two assists, two steals and one block. Zoey Ward followed with 12 points, five rebounds, two assists, one steal and one block. Erin Leary led the way on the glass, collecting eight rebounds, while also putting up nine points, four steals, three assists and two blocks.

The Gaels outshot their opponents from the field (39.0% to 34.7%) and the three-point line (32.0% to 26.7%), while tying from the free throw line (66.7%).

Scouting the Terriers
Boston University faced off against Le Moyne and grabbed the 60-55 win.

Allison Schwertner led the team with 18 points, going 9-16 from the field. She also tallied the most boards with seven, while totaling four steals and one block. Alex Giannaros trailed with 13 points, six rebounds, three assists and one steal. Audrey Ericksen recorded 12 points, two assists and one rebound.

The Terriers outshot their hosts from the field, 39.3% to 38.0%.
