BOSTON, Mass. – UMass Lowell men's basketball freshman guard
Martin Somerville (Bowie, Md.) has been tabbed America East Rookie of the Week for the third time so far this season, following his performance in a three-game week for the River Hawks.
Somerville averaged 15.7 points and 3.0 rebounds per game last week with seven steals. He shot 50% (9-19) from three-point range, including a personal-best six triples en route to a season-high 21 points at Saint Louis on November 27.
So far this season, the rookie is third on the team with 12.8 points per game. He paces the squad with 21 threes and a 46.7% clip from beyond the arc, in addition to boasting a team-best 15 steals.
Somerville and the River Hawks are back in action on Saturday, December 7 when they visit in-state rival Massachusetts for a 12 p.m. tipoff.
