LOWELL, Mass. – The UMass Lowell women's basketball team (2-9) will play its final non-conference contest in 2024 versus Massachusetts (4-6), competing for the Kennedy Cup at Costello Athletic Center on Friday, December 20 with a tipoff scheduled for 1 p.m.

Last Time Out for the River Hawks
The River Hawks most recently played Boston University at home last Thursday, falling to the Terriers, 62-55.
Sophomore Abbey Lindsey (Staten Island, N.Y.) guided the team with 12 points, adding four rebounds and three assists. Sophomore Maddie Rice (Charlottesville, Va.) earned her first career double-double on 11 points and a team-best 11 rebounds. Rice shot 50.0% from the field, while also contributing with one block and one steal.
UMass Lowell outshot Boston University from three-point range (18.2% to 15.4%) and the free throw line (69.2% to 60.0%).
Scouting the Minutewomen
The Minutewomen lost their last contest against Boston College, 62-57.
Yahmani Mckayle led the team with 14 points, while collecting three assists and two boards. Stefanie Kulesza followed with 12 points and Megan Olbrys added 11 points and a team-high nine rebounds.
Massachusetts was able to outshoot Boston College from the foul line, 66.7% to 54.2%.

The Kennedy Cup
Established in 2018, UMass Lowell and UMass Amherst battle throughout the year to award the Kennedy Cup to the school with the most wins in the cumulative year. John Kennedy is a longtime supporter of the River Hawks and the Minutemen athletic programs. Kennedy holds degrees from both schools, Lowell Technological Institute ('70, H '16) and UMass Amherst ('76), with degrees in Mathematics (BS) and Accounting (MS), respectively. Kennedy also received an honorary degree from UMass Lowell in 2016.
