Last Time Out for the River Hawks
UMass Lowell traveled to Hamilton, N.Y. this past Monday to face Colgate for the season opener, falling 74-62 to the Raiders.
Sophomore Rayne Durant (New Haven, Conn.) went 6-for-12 from the field and a perfect 4-for-4 from the foul line, totaling a team-high 16 points. She added eight rebounds and one steal, as well.
Freshman Sille-Liis Mölder (Tallinn, Estonia) had a memerable first showing with 12 points, five rebounds and one assist. She went 4-for-7 from field goal range (57.1%).
Sophomore Abbey Lindsey (Staten Island, N.Y.) totaled 11 points and four assists, while sophomore Maddie Rice (Charlottesville, Va.) contributed nine points and a team-best nine rebounds. Redshirt-senior Sydney Watkins (Indianapolis, Ind.) also had nine points and three steals.
UMass Lowell shot 45.1% in comparison to Colgate's 42.1%, in addition to outrebounding their hosts, 35-30. From the free throw line, the River Hawks shot 76.5 percent.
Scouting the Crusaders
Holy Cross opened their schedule with a four-point loss, 78-74, to Quinnipiac at home on Monday.
Kaitlyn Flanagan would be the playmaker for the Crusaders in this contest, scoring a career-high 21 points, and shooting 62.5 percent from the field. She also added seven assists, two rebounds, and one steal.
Lindsay Berger contributed with 16 points, six rebounds, and one assist, while Meg Cahalan and Simone Foreman had 12 points apiece. Cahalan also added six rebounds, with Foreman also accumulating five.
Holy Cross earned a 56.5 field goal percentage, going 6-13 from three-point range to outshoot the Bobcats.
