LOWELL, Mass. – Junior
Beni Halasz (Budapest, Hungary) of the UMass Lowell ice hockey team (9-3-0, 5-2-0 Hockey East) has earned Hockey East Stop It Goaltending Goaltender of the Week honors, announced by the conference on Monday, following his amazing performance in Saturday's 1-0 shutout against UConn.
Halasz tallied 12 saves in the first period, nine in the second and 11 in the third on his way to a 32-save shutout, marking his first shutout and win in a River Hawks uniform. He now holds six career shutouts and an overall record of 29-28-6, while boasting a 2.55 GAA and .911 save percentage. On the year, he is now 1-1-0 with a 2.40 GAA and .918 save percentage in four games played.
This marks the first Hockey East weekly award of Halasz's career, as well.
