LOWELL, Mass. – UMass Lowell has been named the host school for the 2028 Division I Men's and Women's Indoor Track and Field Championships, as announced by the NCAA. The River Hawks, in partnership with New Balance and Boston College, successfully won the bid to host the national finals at the TRACK at new balance at Boston Landing in Brighton, Mass.

"I'm excited for UMass Lowell to once again be showcased at the national level," said UMass Lowell Director of Athletics Lynn Coutts. "Earning this bid is truly a testament to the hard work of our River Hawk staff and our partners, including the folks at The Track at New Balance and our counterparts at Boston College. This combined group worked tirelessly to give student-athletes from around the country an incredible experience at the 2024 Indoor National Championships, which opened the door to bring the event back to Boston in the future."

The event will bring 400 of the best track and field student-athletes from around the country to Boston for the two-day competition, marking the second time in five years that UMass Lowell will be a part of the hosting of the event at the TRACK at new balance, after doing so just last spring.

"We are honored to host the NCAA Championships again in 2028," said Head Coach Gary Gardner. "It is great exposure for UMass Lowell and our program. New Balance and Boston College are great partners, so we are looking forward to the event. Hosting on yet another Olympic year brings even more excitement to the event."

In April 2019, the TRACK at new balance broke ground to kick off the construction of a multi-sport complex with seating for 5,000 spectators and featuring a 200-meter indoor track. Recently opened, the TRACK is the heart of Boston Landing, centrally located within the development to complement the New Balance World Headquarters, world class office and lab buildings, a 295-unit luxury residential building, and the Bruins and Celtics practice and training facilities.

Both days of the Indoor Track and Field Championships will be open to the public and tickets will be available in the months leading up to the event.
