AUSTIN, Texas – After another successful spring campaign for the UMass Lowell women's track and field team, senior
Kenzie Doyle (Swansea, Mass.) has punched her ticket to the 2023 NCAA Division I Outdoor Championships in Austin, Texas, qualifying for Thursday's 10K race.
Doyle ran an extremely impressive 10K at the NCAA East Preliminaries in Jacksonville on May 25, qualifying for the NCAA Championships with a time of 33:53.23, and earning seventh-place honors.
"She ran an incredible race at the East Prelims," said Head Coach
Gary Gardner. "If we can repeat that, it should place her well."
Throughout this senior season that featured cross country, as well as both indoor and outdoor track and field, Doyle has excelled and competed at an extremely high level. After helping the women's cross country and indoor track and field teams to America East Championship gold medals, she had an impressive outdoor season from her very first race.
Doyle made her 2023 outdoor debut at the Raleigh Relays on March 23, whizzing around the track for a personal-best 10K time of 33:25.72. She then ran the 5K at the Larry Ellis Invitational, finishing third with a time of 16:11.79. Next up was the America East Championships, where she became a double champion in the 5K (17:20.91) and 10K (36:23.90), before going on to break her personal 5K record at the Yale Last Chance Meet with a whopping 16:00.06, giving her first place and her second NCAA East Preliminary qualification.
"Kenzie has grown so much this year, it has really been amazing," commented Gardner. "As a coach, it has been fun to watch her mature as an athlete."
The women's 10K race at the NCAA Championships is set to go off at 10:08 p.m. central time on Thursday, June 8. Full results can be found
