BOSTON – 12 UMass Lowell student-athletes have been honored with the America East Presidential Scholar-Athlete Award, as announced by the conference office on Thursday afternoon.
This honor recognizes all student-athletes graduating with a 3.75 GPA or higher from their respective institutions after having attended a minimum of two years.
Mitra Asdigha (Shrewsbury, Mass.), Anna Edson (Beverly, Mass.), Stephanie Kemp (Mansfield, Mass.), and Allison LeBlanc (Saugus, Mass.) of the women's soccer team, Will Cole-French (Hanoi, Vietnam) and Eoin Dooley (Stoneham, Mass.) of the men's cross country/track and field program, women's lacrosse players Grace Hansen (Stamford, Conn.) and Abby McLaughlin (Walpole, Mass.), men's lacrosse's Nick Harvath (Whitmore Lake, Mich.) and Cody Stevens (Windham, N.H.), field hockey's Megan Salsinha (Westport, Mass.), and Denis Petro (Michalovce, Slovakia) of men's soccer were this year's River Hawk honorees.
The Presidential Scholar-Athlete Award was approved by the America East Board of Presidents in June of 2013 and implemented for 2013-14 academic year. In total, over 670 student-athletes have been honored as part of the program.
