LAST TIME OUT
The River Hawks are back in action after making a quick turnaround following their 12-8 loss to LIU at home just five days ago. Senior Nick Harvath led the team with another standout performance, scoring two goals and dishing out two assists. Sophomore Riley Lawhorn recorded his first career hat trick against the Sharks, marking a career-high for the midfielder. Graduate student Sean Parker and sophomore Khairi Sears found their way into the score column as well, with Parker netting three and Sears adding one. Junior Jake Davis kept his scoring streak alive with two assists to tie Harvath for the top spot on Friday. Freshmen Ben Roberts and Jackson Dean also picked up a helper each.
Â
Freshman
Devin German had a strong performance at the X with 12 wins in his 21 attempts. He also scooped up a team-high eight ground balls. In the cage,
Luke Renaud put forth another solid stand with 13 saves, two ground balls and one caused turnover.
LEADING THE FLOCK
Garrett Murphy (5G,3A) and
Nick Harvath (4G,4A) are locked in at the top spot in points with eight each. Harvath's four assists in two games also lead the team so far this season.
Sean Parker has been a sneaky goal-scoring threat for UMass Lowell with a team-best six goals in his four appearances. Murphy's five goals are tied for second on the squad with
Riley Lawhorn, who net his first career hat trick last weekend. Freshman
Ben Roberts is on a four-game point run and leads all rookies in points with six off three goals and three assists.
Ryan Quinlan and
Henry De Tolla have been major contributors on defense with three caused turnovers each this year. The duo also ranks third and fourth on the team in ground balls with eight and seven, respectively. Freshman faceoff specialist
Devin German sits in the top spot with 20 this season, followed by
Luke Renaud with 11. German has also been the team's go-to man at the X, with a .478 success rate in his four games to rank him fourth in the conference. He also ranks fourth in America East in ground balls per game with 5.00.
SCOUTING THE DOLPHINS
Jacksonville enters Wednesday's tilt with the River Hawks ranked 12th in the country with a 3-1 record. After dropping their first of the season, 12-7, to Johns Hopkins, Jacksonville rebounded to go on a three-game win streak, beating No. 7 Duke, Marist and, most recently, High Point. Brandon Galloway and Jacob Greiner have amassed 12 points each in their four games this year. Galloway has a staggering 10 goals this year as well as two assists, while Greiner's 12 points came through his seven goals and five helpers. The team has enjoyed a great deal of scoring depth early, however, with 16 players ripping twine early. As a unit, the Dolphins rank second in the nation in scoring defense, allowing just 7.25 goals per game. Their success has been due largely in part to goalie Luke Millican's impressive start to the season. Starting all four games in the cage, Millican has a .564 save percentage and a 10.67 goals against average, ranking fifth and tenth, respectively, in the nation in those categories. Jacksonville has also moved into sixth in the country in clear percentage with a .938 success rate after making 61 of their 65 clears. At the X, the Dolphins have looked to Nathan Kapp, who has a .374 win rate at the faceoff as well as a team-high 16 ground ball pickups.
SHOOTERS GONNA SHOOT
Though the River Hawks are still chasing their first win of the season, the shots have been landing for UMass Lowell. Through four games, the River Hawks are ranked 15th in the country in shot percentage. With 35 goals on 106 shots, the River Hawks own a .330 shot percentage through four games.
Â
A WIN WOULD
A win against the Dolphins would mark the first of the year for the River Hawks as well as the first ever under Head Coach Drew Kelleher.
Â
ALL-TIME SERIES
These two teams have only ever met two times in program history, with the most recent time being last year at Cushing Field. Each side has one win to their credit, so Wednesday night's tilt would give the winning team a 2-1 all-time mark.
UP NEXT
The River Hawks are back on the road on Saturday, March 18, at UAlbany. Faceoff is set for noon.
