BOSTON—The UMass Lowell track and field team capped its three-day stint at the 2023 ECAC/IC4A Championships hosted by Boston University on Sunday afternoon.
"Ali had a good day today," said Head Coach
Gary Gardner. "The other kids are now ready for a quick reset before the spring season. They're still recovering a touch from conference, but overall, it was a solid weekend."
Juniors Alexandria Grasso (North Reading, Mass.) and Wonuola Ashaju (Lagos, Nigeria) represented the River Hawks jumpers in the triple jump to start the day. Grasso reached 11.75m (38'6.75") to land in seventh overall. Ashaju had a solid day in the pit, finishing 19th overall with a 10.99m (36'0.75") mark.
Sophomores Joseph Curran (Nashua, N.H.) and Wouter Van Den Akker (Groningen, Netherlands) tackled the 3,000-meter race for the men's distance crew. The duo came across the finish line back-to-back to finish 20th and 21st, respectively. Curran clocked an 8:21.19 to finish just ahead of his classmate Van Den Akker, who toed the line milliseconds later at 8:21.34.
With the indoor season in the books, the River Hawks look ahead to the outdoor campaign, which kicks off at home with the River Hawk Invitational on March 25.
