Saturday at UAlbany: Watch | Live Stats

LOWELL, Mass.—The UMass Lowell men's lacrosse team (0-5) opens America East action this Saturday, March 18, with a visit to UAlbany (1-4). Faceoff on Bob Ford Field at Tom & Mary Casey Stadium is slated for noon.

LAST TIME OUT
The River Hawks headed south to take on the then No. 12 Jacksonville Dolphins last weekend, dropping a 16-7 decision to the ranked foe. Dakota Clark and Riley Lawhorn led the goal-scoring efforts with two each. Nick Harvath matched Clark and Lawhorn's two-point performances after notching one goal and dishing out a helper. Khairi Sears and Curtis Redd both snuck into the goal column as well, registering one each. Sears also added one caused turnover to his credit. On defense, sophomore Alexander Chairs scooped up three ground balls and registered one forced turnover. Luke Renaud continued an impressive rookie campaign in the cage, stopping 17 of 42 shots faced and scooping up a team-high five ground balls.

LEADING THE FLOCK
Through five games, Nick Harvath remains the leader of the flock in points with 10 thanks to five goals and five assists. Though he leads the team in helpers, Harvath is currently one of three River Hawks tied for third in goals with five, splitting the spot with Garrett Murphy and Khairi Sears. Riley Lawhorn paces the squad in goals with a career-best seven goals already this season. With his two last weekend, Lawhorn extended his active goal streak to four-straight games. On defense, Alexander Chairs, Henry De Tolla and Ryan Quinlan share the top spot with three caused turnovers each. Quinlan's 10 ground balls also lead the long poles with seven so far. At the faceoff X, Devin German has emerged as the go-to for UMass Lowell. With 42 wins in 92 attempts, German has a .457 win percentage and a team-high 25 groundballs to his credit.

Freshman Luke Renaud returned to his spot between the cage for the fifth-straight game. Through his five appearances, Renaud owns a 15.30 GAA and a .476 save percentage. He also ranks second in America East in saves per game with a 13.80 average.

SCOUTING THE GREAT DANES
With a 1-4 record heading into conference play, the Great Danes hope to bounce back into the win column after falling 16-9 to No. 4 Maryland just last week. Jack Pucci leads the Great Danes in goals and points, netting 10 and adding three helpers for 13 points this season. With four assists, TJ Sheehan narrowly edged out his teammate for the top slot in the statistical category. Silas Richmond sits just one goal off Pucci's ten this year, scoring nine goals for nine points. On defense, Jake Piseno has been a menace for the Great Danes, logging 18 caused turnovers in just five games. Piseno also owns a team-high 26 ground balls, followed only by faceoff specialist Regan Endres with 15. UAlbany has seen three goalies between the pipes this year, with Jack Vanvalkenburg facing the lion's share of the action with 156:08 minutes in net. With a 10.38 GAA, Vanvalkenburg ranks third in the conference in the category.

A WIN WOULD

A win against UAlbany would mark the first of the year for the River Hawks as well as the first ever under Head Coach Drew Kelleher. It would also mark the team's first-ever victory against the Great Danes.

ALL-TIME SERIES
Since elevating to Division I, the River Hawks have yet to earn a win over the Great Danes. UAlbany owns an 8-0 record all-time against UMass Lowell. Most recently, the River Hawks fought to the end in a 13-12 loss at Cushing Field last season.

UP NEXT
The River Hawks return to the Mill City to open a two-game homestand next Saturday, March 25, to host Bryant for a 6 p.m. showdown.
