KANSAS CITY, Mo. – UMass Lowell Men's Basketball Head Coach Pat Duquette has added another honor to his resume this season, as he was tabbed the National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) District 1 Coach of the Year on Tuesday.

In his 10th year at the helm, Duquette led the River Hawks to a historic season, finishing with an impressive, 26-8 overall record. It not only marked the team's first 20-win season since 2010-11, but also the first winning season and best win percentage (.765) of the program's Division I era.

Besides setting new program records with 26 total wins and 11 America East Conference wins, the River Hawks also set a new all-time program record for home wins with a perfect, 17-0 mark in Lowell this season.

With Duquette's guidance, the team not only put together a DI program-best, nine-game win streak from November 16-December 10, but also won six in a row down the stretch to clinch their first second-place finish and two, home America East Playoff games, in addition to a spot in the championship game for the second time in three years.

UMass Lowell finished the regular season atop the league standing in 10 different statistical categories and closed out its 2022-23 run ranked in the top 20 in the nation in four categories, including rebound margin (4th, +8.4), scoring margin (14th, +12.81, field goal percentage (17th, 48.4%) and three-point percentage (19th, 38.1%).

This season, Duquette also garnered his first ever America East Conference Coach of the Year nod and was selected as a finalist for the Hugh Durham National Coach of the Year title.
