LOWELL, Mass. – Due to their success on the field in last week's doubleheaders against Grambling State and Southern, junior
Morgan Fisher (Glassboro, N.J.) and senior
Ryley White (Wareham, Mass.) have been named America East Player and Pitcher of the Week, respectively, as announced by the conference Tuesday.
The River Hawks performed well in all facets of the game last week on their way to earning a 3-0-1 record in the pair of doubleheaders. Fisher played a major role in the success of the offense, finishing the week 7-for-12 (.583) with six RBI and four runs scored in just four games. She hit a double in each of the four games, and in just the Southern series alone, Fisher went 5-for-6 (.833) with a run scored in each game and four RBI in game two.
White was stellar from the circle in game one of the Grambling State series, pitching a complete game shutout while allowing just two hits and striking out a whopping 10 batters. Her ERA on the season improved to 1.46, which ranks second in the America East as she also holds the conference's third-most strikeouts with 44. This marks White's second shutout so far this season.
The River Hawks are back to work this weekend, as they travel to the Rutgers Tournament in New Jersey from March 17-19.
