Sunday at Siena: Watch | Live Stats

LOWELL, Mass.—The UMass Lowell men's lacrosse team (0-2) hits the road this weekend for a non-conference showdown with the Siena Saints (1-1) on Sunday, February 26, at 11 a.m.

LAST TIME OUT
The River Hawks opened the home slate last Friday against Massachusetts when they suffered an 11-3 loss at Cushing Field. Ben Roberts, Jake Davis and Riley Lawhorn all struck twine in the contest to end the night with a point each. With their goals, Roberts extended his scoring streak to two games while Davis brought his point-scoring run to eight straight contests dating back to the 2022 season. Graduate student Zach D'Amico led the team in caused turnovers with two against the Minutemen. In the cage, freshman Luke Renaud made his second consecutive start, stopping a season-best 18 saves.

LEADING THE FLOCK
Through two games, Garrett Murphy continues to lead the team in points with five off a team-best three goals and an additional two assists. Five River Hawks sit behind Murphy with two goals apiece: Jake Davis, Jackson Dean, Sean Parker, Ben Roberts and Khairi Sears. In the assists column, just two players have more than one helper this season, with Murphy and Curtis Redd sharing the top spot. Sophomore Henry De Tolla has stepped up on defense to post a team-best three caused turnovers in his two appearances this season. Zach D'Amico and Ryan Quinlan are tied for second on the squad with two each. In goal, Luke Renaud has earned the starting nod in both contests for UMass Lowell this season. In 84 shots faced, Renaud has made 26 stops to average a .448 save percentage and a 16.00 GAA.

SCOUTING THE SAINTS
After kicking off their week on a high note with a close 12-11 win over NJIT, the Siena Saints dropped an 18-11 decision to Providence just last weekend on the road. In the team's two games played, Ryan McCarthy has emerged as a critical point scorer with a team-best eight points off six goals and two assists. Colin Gleason takes a slight edge in the assists columns over his fellow Saints with three in his two appearances. With two starts to his credit, junior Brian Mack leads Siena's defensive efforts with four caused turnovers. Faceoff specialist Dylan Pape poses a threat at the X for Siena with 35 wins and 17 loses and also leads the team in ground ball pickups with 20 in two games. Goaltender Christopher Yanchoris has made both starts for the Saints in the cage, posting a 14.50 GAA and a .393 save percentage.

A WIN WOULD
A win against the Saints would bring the River Hawks one game closer to closing in on the Saints' 5-2 edge over UMass Lowell in their eight games played. It would also mark the first win for the River Hawks under Head Coach Drew Kelleher as well as the first win of the 2023 campaign.

ALL-TIME SERIES
Siena holds a 5-2 edge over the River Hawks heading into this Sunday's tilt. Last year, Siena picked up a 14-10 win over UMass Lowell at Cushing Field.
