BOSTON, Mass. – On the first day of the indoor season, the UMass Lowell men's indoor track and field team collected a plethora of top finishes and performances at both the Suffolk Invitational and BU Season Opener on Saturday.

At Suffolk, senior
Thomas Jordan (Needham, Mass.) led the way for the River Hawks with a first-place victory in the 200m dash, earning a time of 22.06. Three other teammates joined him with top-ten times in the race, as senior
Aras Kaya (Winchester, Mass.) finished fourth with a 22.53 mark, followed by sophomore
Tristan O'Riorden in fifth place with a time of 22.54.

Hatim Boukhtam (Abington, Mass.) impressed as well in his first career 3,000-meter run, finishing second with a time of 8:39.39, while junior
Adnan Abdirahman (Dorchester, Mass.) earned himself a fourth-place finish with a 8:47.53 mark. Freshman
Keegan Tierney (East Greenwich, R.I.) also competed in his first collegiate race, crossing in ninth with a time of 8:52.82. Junior
Timothy Glowik (Danvers, Mass.) made it four River Hawks in the top 15, picking up a time of 9:11.51 for 15th place. Â Â Â Â Â Â

Luke Stelmach (Sterling, Mass.) got the day started with a fifth-place performance in the 60m hurdles, collecting a time of 8.66, while sophomore
Tristan O'Riorden finished seventh with an 8.70 mark. Two River Hawks finished back-to-back in the 60m dash in Kaya and freshman
Daniel Kennedy (Tolland, Conn.). Kaya came in fourth with a 6.96 mark, while Kennedy, in his first collegiate race, crossed the line just 0.01 seconds behind him in fifth.

Jake Velazquez was the lone River Hawk to compete in the mile, earning a ninth-place finish with a time of 4:31.22, while multiple members of the team took part in the 400m dash. Senior
Hunter Marino (Weymouth, Mass.) and sophomore
Basit Iddriss (Milford, Mass.) performed well, taking second and third place, respectively, with times of 48.98 and 49.89. Sophomore
Alejandro Lynch ran to a 50.52 time for eighth place, while freshman
Gabriel Merrow picked up 11th in his first collegiate race with a 51.34 mark.

Shane Exilhomme (Orlando, Fla.) and senior
Michael Makiej (Andover, Mass.) tied for the best height jumped in the high jump, clearing 1.85m, while freshman
Brandon Riley (Weymouth, Mass.) finished in 10th with a 1.75m jump. In the long jump, graduate student
Evans Oduro (Kumasi, Ghana) was the highest placing River Hawk, leaping to a distance of 6.55m for third place, while sophomore
Eythan Luxene snagged eighth with a 6.39-meter jump. Oduro was also the third-place finisher in the triple jump, reaching a distance of 13.22m.

Maxwell Davis (Stoneham, Mass.) led the way in the pole vault, clearing 4.20m for second place overall, while senior
Daniel Cuddy (Hudson, Mass.) (T-6th, 4.05m), sophomore
Derek Munroe (Tewksbury, Mass.) (10th, 4.05m) and Stelmach (T-13th, 3.60m) also took part in the pole vault for the River Hawks. Senior

Over at the BU Season Opener, sophomore
Ethan Mashtare (St. Albans, Vt.) and junior
Andrew Benassi (Reading, Mass.) competed in the men's 3,000m run, taking 96th and 104th, respectively. Mashtare crossed with a time of 8:38.31, while Benassi picked up an 8:46.15 mark. Junior
Joseph Curran (Nashua, N.H.) ran unattached and finished in 77th with a time of 8:23.38.

Next up, the River Hawks will compete at the Rhode Island Multi-Event Meet hosted by Rhode Island on Thursday, December 7 and Friday, December 8 at the Mackal Fieldhouse in Kingston.
