BOSTON, Mass. – Three members of the UMass Lowell men's soccer team have been named to America East All-Conference teams following the conclusion of the 2023 regular season, as announced by the league office on Friday morning.

Freshman Daniele Mastroianni (Montréal, Quebec) was tabbed to the conference's All-Rookie team, while graduate student Denis Petro (Michalovce, Slovakia) and senior Guillermo Francés Poquet (Enguera, Valencia) were each named to the America East All-Academic Team.

Mastroianni's impact on the River Hawks' offense was noticed immediately, as the rookie scored two goals in only his second match, helping lead UMass Lowell to a 2-1 victory over Northeastern and earning him the America East Rookie of the Week award. The freshman continued to impress, making nine starts while appearing in all 16 games and adding two more goals to finish with four on the season.

"Daniele is such a talented player and has a big upside," said Head Coach Kyle Zenoni. "I am happy he was honored for the hard work he puts in. We push Daniele hard because we know how special he can be."

For his efforts in the classroom, Petro was named to the America East All-Academic Team for his third straight season, posting a 4.00 GPA as a graduate student while starting in all 15 games he appeared in. Francés Poquet, making his second straight All-Academic Team, was the River Hawks' leading scorer, tallying five goals for 10 points. The senior boasts a 3.78 GPA as a Nutritional Science major.

"Denis and Guille define what student-athlete really means," commented Zenoni. "They are everyday players that work hard on the field and in the classroom. I'm happy they have been recognized for their hard work."
