BOSTON–The UMass Lowell men's lacrosse team was picked to finish seventh in the America East Preseason Poll, as announced by the conference office Wednesday afternoon.
 
Two-time defending champion Vermont was a unanimous selection to repeat a title run, earning 49 points and seven first-place tallies. Tied for second, UMBC and UAlbany received 39 votes each with UMBC receiving the only other first-place vote.
 
Rounding out the top five, newcomer Bryant picked up 31 points to land fourth in the polls, and Binghamton earned 23 votes to pick up fifth.
 
The River Hawks enter 2023 with a fresh slate after introducing Drew Kelleher as the second head coach in program history early this year. UMass Lowell also reloaded the roster with a fresh batch of nine freshmen eyeing a shot at the opening-day lineup.
 
The 2023 season opens on the road at Quinnipiac on Saturday, Feb. 11, at 12 p.m. The River Hawks kick off their home slate the following Friday, Feb. 17, against Massachusetts at 1 p.m.
