LOOKING AT UMASS LOWELL
The River Hawks earned their first conference victory of the season on Sunday with a 76-63 win at Bryant. UMass Lowell had four players in double figures, led by
Ivory Finley's 18 points.
Jaliena Sanchez was a difference maker on both ends of the floor, scoring 17 points and dishing out eight assists, while also picking up a career-high seven rebounds to go with two blocks and two steals.
Jaini Edmonds went 7-15 for 16 points and
Kaylen Banwareesingh added 12 points and seven rebounds.
Mili Carrera scored nine points off the bench to help the River Hawks take down the Bulldogs.
SCOUTING THE BLACK BEARS
Maine improved to 5-1 in conference after holding off Binghamton in a close game on Sunday. The Black Bears were led by their star forward Adrianna Smith, one of the top players in the league, who tallied 17 points and 15 rebounds. Smith has 10 double doubles this season and has been key to Maine's success, as the sophomore leads the team in virtually every statistic. The Black Bears' only loss in league play this year came against Vermont, a 61-52 defeat at home.
A WIN WOULD
A win would be a third win over Maine in program history. A win would also split the season series against the Black Bears.
LEADING THE FLOCK
Ivory Finley leads the River Hawks averaging 9.6 points per game this season. The sophomore has scored a team-high 164 points through 17 games.
Amaya Dowdy has been a force in the paint all season, totaling 30 blocks to lead the team and the conference, averaging 1.8 per game. Dowdy and
Kaylen Banwareesingh are shooting 42% from the field to lead the River Hawks.
Jaliena Sanchez has been the main distributor for UMass Lowell, dishing out 56 assists this year, including eight against Brown and Bryant.
Kaylen Banwareesingh has eclipsed 100 rebounds on the year, totaling 114 boards through 15 games to lead the team.
Mili Carrera leads the team shooting 83% from the free throw line, knocking down 10 of 12 attempts.
