River Hawks Announce 2022 Schedule

7/11/2022 3:00:00 PM

LOWELL, Mass. – UMass Lowell women's soccer head coach Mira Novak has unveiled the 2022 schedule. After earning a fourth consecutive America East postseason berth last season, the River Hawks are back and ready for a 17-game fall campaign.

"We are excited about our 2022 schedule for this group of student-athletes. Our non-conference schedule presents some significant challenges to us and will push us against the top teams in the country and within the region," said Novak. "We are excited to open the season against local rival Merrimack College and the trips to Georgetown and Auburn will be fantastic opportunities for our student-athletes to grow on and off the field and get ready for conference play."

The season begins with a home contest against Merrimack (Aug. 18) before the team travels to Washington D.C. to take on Big East power Georgetown (Aug. 21). After playing host to Boston University (Aug. 25), the River Hawks close out the month of August with a matchup with another Big East opponent, the UConn Huskies (Aug. 28).

"I believe that our conference play in America East will be as tight competition as ever. There is no clear favorite, and any team can make a run for the championship. We have a tough start to our league play against UAlbany and Vermont, which will show us how we fare against the top teams in the conference," added Novak.

September opens with a home contest against Stonehill (Sept. 1) before UMass Lowell visits Massachusetts (Sept. 4), Auburn (Sept. 8) and Hartford (Sept. 11). The River Hawks host Dartmouth (Sept. 18) before kicking off conference play with a trip to UAlbany (Sept. 25). The team will then host the defending America East champion Vermont (Sept. 29) at Cushing Field.

October is packed with conference action as the team travels to New Jersey to take on NJIT (Oct. 2) to begin the final month of the regular season. The River Hawks then play host to Bryant (Oct. 9), the newest member of the America East Conference before heading to Maine (Oct. 13).

UMass Lowell wraps up the regular season with games against UMBC (Oct. 16), Binghamton (Oct. 23) and New Hampshire (Oct. 27).
