VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. – UMass Lowell field hockey rising senior midfielder Kate Miller (Cherry Hill, N.J.) has been selected to participate in the 2022 Senior Nexus Championship, as announced by USA Field Hockey on Thursday.

The USA Field Hockey Senior Nexus Championship, presented by Osaka Hockey, will be held at the Virginia Beach Regional Training Center in Virginia Beach from July 17-22.

"Kate is our first UMass Lowell player to be named to the USA Field Hockey Senior Championship and we couldn't be more proud of her," said UMass Lowell Field Hockey Head Coach Shannon LeBlanc. "Kate has developed tremendously over the past four years, and I'm so thankful that her skills and abilities have been noticed by the USAFHA. We can't wait to watch her compete with and against the best players in the USA. We know she will represent herself and UMass Lowell at the highest level."

Miller appeared in all 16 games for the River Hawks in 2021, starting 14. She recorded a career-high four assists for four points. In her 45 career games so far, she totals four goals and seven assists for 15 points.

Formerly known as the Young Women's National Championship, the Senior NXC is held annually and features 144 elite high school, collegiate and post-collegiate athletes. During the spring and early summer, athletes trialed and trained at one of the seven USA Field Hockey High Performance Centers throughout the country for an opportunity to be selected to the Senior NXC, a step along the Olympic Development Pathway program. All athletes that were previously on the Rise, U-21, Development and Senior U.S. Women's National Team were also included within the selection.

The event will start with a team training session on Sunday, July 17 with games starting on Monday, July 18. The opportunity to be selected for the 2022-23 U.S. Women's National Team and Junior USWNT Selection Camps are at stake.
