LOWELL, Mass.—
The UMass Lowell men's track and field team turned in an exceptional team outing Saturday afternoon at the 2022 George Davis Invitational at the Cushing Field Athletic Complex.

In total, the men finished the day with 17 top-three finishes including seven first-place marks.

"Today was a great day for the entire program. We had great weather, a ton of alumni support and great performances from all of the event groups. We couldn't have asked for a better day to start gearing up for the championship season," commented Associate Head Coach Ally Waruch.

The River Hawks dominated the field in the throws with excellent performances across the hammer, shot put, discus and javelin. Continuing his standout season in the circle, graduate student Patrick Pang (Peabody, Mass.) hit a distance of 56.98m to snag first in the hammer throw. The event win marked Pang's fourth of the season thus far.

Throwing alongside Pang, senior Hayden Dillow (Franklin, Mass.) set a personal best in the hammer with a 47.39m toss. Dillow also tackled the Discus for the River Hawks, clinching second overall off a career-best 47.22m.

Rounding out the top eight in the discus, graduate student DeReginald Walker (Rancho Cordova, Calif.), freshman Ian Camerato (Mount Laurel, N.J.) and sophomore Luis Cadime (Lowell, Mass.) went five-six-eight in the event. Walker reached 43.20m for fifth, followed by Camerato with a personal-best 42.4m for sixth and Cadime in eighth with a 41.80m distance.

Cadime and Walker added top finishes in the shot put to close out their weekend successes. With a new career-best mark of 15.74m, Cadime led the pack in first place. Behind Cadime, Walker heaved the shot put to a final 14.72m for fourth. Joining his teammates, senior Sean Trott (Lowell, Mass.) brought home seventh overall with a 14.72m throw.

Closing out the throws with the javelin, the River Hawks saw three personal-best marks and a brand new school record on the runway. For the third time this season, freshman James Kotowski set a school record in the javelin, launching the spear to an impressive 71.14m for first in the event. Next in line, sophomore Zach Cardoso (Newton, N.H.) clinched second with a new career-best distance of 59.18m. Sophomore Robert Townsend (Ashland, Mass.) wrapped up the day for the throwing crew in ninth place with a new personal best 49.85m mark.

A trio of jumpers triumphed in the pit and on the landing mat for the River Hawks. Sophomore Maxwell Davis (Stoneham, Mass.) cleared 4.25m in the pole vault to notch a fifth-place finish. In the long jump, junior Evans Oduro (Kumasi, Ghana) leapt to a second-place reach of 7.01m. Gliding over the bar, sophomore Michael Makiej (Andover, Mass.) finished sixth in the field after launching himself over 1.88m.
On the track, UMass Lowell started the day strong with a dominating performance in the two-mile run. The River Hawks controlled the pace with five runners registering top eight times.
