3/31/2022 2:00:00 PM

LOWELL, Mass.—UMass Lowell hockey forward Lucas Condotta (Georgetown, Ontario) signed a one-year, entry-level contract with the Montreal Canadiens Thursday afternoon, as announced by the club.

Signing as an undrafted free agent, Condotta will begin his professional career in Laval, Quebec, with the Canadiens' American Hockey League (AHL) affiliate, the Laval Rocket.

"It is with great pride that we announce that Lucas has signed an NHL contract with the Montreal Canadiens. He helped add to our foundational culture by establishing new standards for competing both on and off the ice," remarked Head Coach Norm Bazin. "He served as a true leader and mentor to the younger guys, leading this team back to the 2022 NCAA Tournament. We are excited for Lucas and his family, and we have no doubt he will continue to impress at every level of professional hockey."

Tabbed captain of the 2021-22 squad, Condotta emerged as a leader on and off the ice for the River Hawks during his career in the blue and white. An offensive weapon on special teams, Condotta led the team in shorthanded goals with three during his senior campaign, while adding two power play tallies. Condotta capped his career as a River Hawk with 23 points off 10 goals and 13 assists in 33 appearances.

A student in the Manning School of Business, Condotta was named to the Hockey East All-Academic Team the last three years. In his 121 games as a River Hawk, Condotta amassed 24 goals and 28 assists for 52 career points.
