LOOKING AT UMASS LOWELL
The River Hawks will play their first game at home this season when Boston University comes to town. Last time out, UMass Lowell fell to #11 Indiana 93-37 in Bloomington. Jaini Edmonds led the team with nine points and added two boards and one steal. Kaylen Banwareesingh tallied a team-high eight rebounds and scored four points. UMass Lowell shot 26.5% from the field and 19% from behind the arc against a strong Indiana defense.
SCOUTING THE TERRIERS
Boston University enters Wednesdayís game after dropping the first two games of the season. The Terriers fell to Northeastern in their opening game, 66-65, at home. Last time out, Boston University traveled to Miami (Fla.) for a Sunday afternoon matchup where they fell 81-46. Caitlin Weimar is averaging 10.5 points per game to lead the team through two games. Weimar also leads the team with 18 rebounds this season, averaging 9.0 per game, and five blocks. Alex Giannaros and Sydney Johnson have both other seen action in one game so far, but have scored 23 and 11 points, respectively.
A WIN WOULD
A win would be a first win over Boston University since the 2015-16 season. A win would also be the first win of the season for the River Hawks.
LEADING THE FLOCK
Jaini Edmonds and Jaliena Sanchez led the team with 19 points each, averaging 9.5 per game. Sanchez also leads the way with 4.0 assists per game. The River Hawk have 29 rebounds on the season and Kaylen Banwareesingh has tallied 17 total, with 13 defensive rebounds to lead the team.
NEW TO THE NEST
The River Hawks welcome two newcomers to the 2022-23 roster. Graduate student Mili Carrera joins the team after four years at the University of Science and Arts of Oklahoma where she scored 1,229 points in her career. Freshman Ella Ner enters her first season with UMass Lowell after playing with the Israel National Team throughout her high school career. Carrera and Ner bring a new dynamic to the River Hawks on both ends of the floor.
COACHING STAFF COMPLETE
Denise King completed her coaching staff prior to the start of the new season. John Owens joins the staff as an assistant coach, working primarily with the guards on both ends of the floor. Marcus Young was named the director of basketball operations over the summer. King now has a full staff ready for the new campaign ahead.
