LOWELL, Mass. – The UMass Lowell field hockey team (11-5, 5-2 AE) will close out the 2022 regular season this weekend with its final tune-ups before the America East Championship. The River Hawks first host California (4-9, 3-3 AE) in their Breast Cancer Awareness game and America East finale on Friday, October 28 at 1 p.m. before squaring off against Monmouth (8-7, 4-1 CAA) for Senior Day on Sunday, Oct. 30 at 1 p.m.

SENIOR DAY
The River Hawks will recognize seven team members in a special pregame ceremony on Sunday. Graduate students
Jenna Berger (Waterloo, Ontario) and
Hannah Keefe (Westford, Mass.), fifth-year transfers
Caitlin Little (Acton, Mass.) and
Lily Watson (Littleton, Mass.), as well as true seniors
Kate Miller (Cherry Hill, N.J.),
Megan Salsinha (Westport, Mass.) and
Berbel Rozema (Rotterdam, Netherlands) will all be honored for their contributions to the program.

RIVER HAWK REWIND
The River Hawks earned a 4-1 victory against Bryant in their lone game last week to improve to 11-5 overall and 5-2 in America East play. Junior
Alissia de Vries (The Hague, Netherlands) led the way with her first two career goals and six total points.

LEADING THE FLOCK
Graduate student
Jenna Berger (Waterloo, Ontario) leads the team with 20 points on seven goals and six assists. Senior
Berbel Rozema (Rotterdam, Netherlands) follows with 14 points on six goals and two assists, while juniors
Alissia de Vries and
Mirthe Gans (Tiel, Netherlands) each add 11 points on two goals and seven assists.
Eleonore Boekhorst enters the weekend with 66 saves and 1.37 goals against average on the season.

A WIN WOULD
A win Friday would even the series against the Golden Bears at 2-2. It would also give the team its most America East wins (6) since joining the league in 2013. A win on Sunday would mark the first victory ever for the River Hawks against Monmouth.

PLAYOFF PICTURE
With the win against Bryant, the River Hawks clinched a spot in the America East Championship for the fourth time ever. The four-day, six-team tournament will be played at Maine beginning on November 3. UMass Lowell is currently tied for second in the standings with UAlbany heading into the final weekend of the regular-season.

GOALS, GOALS, GOALS
The River Hawks have taken care of their opportunities in 2022, outscoring opponents, 40-24, so far. The team's 2.5 goals per game ranks second during the program's DI era.

NATIONAL NEWS
The River Hawks are now ranked 25th in the nation on the NCAA Division I RPI rankings. The team is also ranked 24th nationally for goals against average (1.36), 22nd for save percentage (.747) and 18th for winning percentage (.688).

HOME SWEET HOME
The River Hawks started, 6-0, at home in 2022, marking the team's best home start at the the Division I level. The squad is 7-1 overall at Wicked Blue this year.

STIFF COMPETITION
UMass Lowell has proven to be a tough competitor in 2022, as the team's only losses have come against nationally ranked opponents. In those five games, three were decided by just one goal and two went to overtime.

OFFENSIVE OUTBURST
After racking up six goals against Merrimack on Sept. 11 for their most goals in a game since 2018 (vs. Hofstra, 6-0), the squad has since maintained their high-scoring ways, finishing with at least four goals in six out of the last 11 games.

SPREADING THE LOVE
The River Hawks have showed off their depth this year, as 15 different team members have tallied a goal and 15 have at least two points.

LIFE ON THE ROAD
The recently completed, five-game road trip was the longest of the 2022 season for the River Hawks. The team is now 4-4 on opposing turf and is 2-1 in America East Conference contests on the road with wins over New Hampshire and Vermont.

ON A ROLL
The River Hawks' six-game win streak from Sept. 5-25 was the longest at the Division I level, so far, improving upon last year's four-game run.

STARTING STRONG
The 3-0 start to conference played marked the River Hawks' best America East start in program history with wins against Stanford, UC Davis and New Hampshire.

SHUTTING OUT THE OPPOSITION
Eleonore Boekhorst now owns 12 career blank sheets after shutting out Vermont on Oct. 7. She holds the program's Division I record for shutouts as a goalkeeper.

HELPING HANDS
With three helpers in the week of Sept. 5,
Jenna Berger currently boasts 24 career assists to take the top spot on the program's Division I record list, surpassing Christa Doiron (19, 2014-17).
Meike Vischer tallied three assists in the victory at New Hampshire, matching a DI program record first set in 2018.

AMERICA EAST WEEKLY HONORS
Eleonore Boekhorst was named America East Defensive Player of the Week on Sept. 7 for her 10 saves and 1-1 performance in the cage against Massachusetts and Wagner.
