LOWELL, Mass. – The UMass Lowell field hockey team (9-4, 4-1 AE) will cap off its longest road stretch of the year this weekend. The River Hawks start with a visit to America East foe, No. 23 UAlbany (9-4, 3-2 AE) on Friday, October 14 at 1 p.m. before traveling north to take on Ivy League opponent Dartmouth (3-8, 0-3 IVY) on Sunday, Oct. 16 at 2 p.m.

RIVER HAWK REWIND
The River Hawks finished 1-1 last week, moving to 9-4 overall and 4-1 in America East play. They prevailed in a hard-fought defensive matchup against Vermont, 1-0, on Oct. 7 and fell just short in a double-overtime heartbreaker at No. 15 Harvard, 2-1, on Oct. 9. Graduate student Jenna Berger (Waterloo, Ontario) scored the lone goal in the win at Vermont for her fifth of the season, while junior goalkeeper Eleonore Boekhorst (Bilthoven, Netherlands) made a season-high 11 saves in the decision at Harvard.

LEADING THE FLOCK
Jenna Berger leads the team with 15 points on five goals and five assists. Senior Berbel Rozema (Rotterdam, Netherlands) follows with 10 points on four goals and two assists, while junior Mirthe Gans (Tiel, Netherlands) and freshman Meike Vischer (The Hague, Netherlands) each add nine points on two goals and five assists. Eleonore Boekhorst enters the weekend with 55 saves and 1.16 goals against average on the season.

A WIN WOULD
A win Friday would give the River Hawks their second win against UAlbany since the move to Division I and their first since September 2017 (2-1 W, 2OT) when the Great Danes were also nationally ranked. A win at Dartmouth on Sunday would even the series at 3-3 against the Big Green as a Division I program. It would also give the River Hawks their first victory against an Ivy League school since 2019 (vs. Columbia, 2-1).

NATIONAL NEWS
The River Hawks are now ranked 22nd in the nation on the NCAA Division I RPI rankings. The team is also ranked 13th nationally for goals against average (1.15), 15th for save percentage (.778) and 22nd for scoring margin (1.01).

LIFE ON THE ROAD
This five-game road trip is the longest of the 2022 season for the River Hawks. The team is now 3-3 on opposing turf and is currently undefeated (2-0) in America East Conference contests on the road with wins over New Hampshire and Vermont.

STIFF COMPETITION
UMass Lowell has proven to be a tough competitor in 2022, as the team's only losses have come against nationally ranked opponents. In those four games, three were decided by just one goal and two went to overtime.

HOME SWEET HOME
The River Hawks' last home game was a 1-0 loss to Maine on September 30 to break a six-game home undefeated streak to start the season. The 6-0 home start was the team's best at the Division I level.

ON A ROLL
The River Hawks' six-game win streak from Sept. 5-25 was the longest at the Division I level, so far, improving upon last year's four-game run.

STARTING STRONG
The 3-0 start to conference played marked the River Hawks' best America East start in program history with wins against Stanford, UC Davis and New Hampshire.

OFFENSIVE OUTBURST
After racking up six goals against Merrimack on Sept. 11 for their most goals in a game since 2018 (vs. Hofstra, 6-0), the squad has since maintained their high-scoring ways, finishing with at least four goals in four out of the last eight games.

SPREADING THE LOVE
The River Hawks have showed off their depth this year, as 12 different team members have tallied a goal and 14 have at least two points.

SHUTTING OUT THE OPPOSITION
Eleonore Boekhorst now owns 12 career blank sheets after shutting out Vermont last weekend. She holds the program's Division I record for shutouts as a goalkeeper.

HELPING HANDS
With three helpers in the week of Sept. 5, Jenna Berger currently boasts 23 career assists to take the top spot on the program's Division I record list, surpassing Christa Doiron (19, 2014-17). Meike Vischer tallied three assists in the victory at New Hampshire, matching a DI program record first set in 2018.

AMERICA EAST WEEKLY HONORS
Eleonore Boekhorst was named America East Defensive Player of the Week on Sept. 7 for her 10 saves and 1-1 performance in the cage against Massachusetts and Wagner.
