HEMPSTEAD, N.Y. - The UMass Lowell softball team (2-5) dropped its first two of four games at Hofstra (4-4) Saturday afternoon, falling 5-0 and 3-2 to the Pride.

Lovina Capria (Deltona, Fla.) spent game one in the circle for the River Hawks, throwing a complete game and earning one strikeout. Junior
Kaylie See (Chino, Calif.) took over for game two, striking out four Hofstra batters over six innings.

"We are having a lot of good moments in our games right now," said Head Coach
Danielle Henderson. "We just have to learn how to get all things clicking at the same time."

Hofstra opened the day with a 5-0 victory in game one. The Pride took the lead on a Chelsea Manto single to left field. The hosts would add one more run in fourth, two more in the fifth, and another in the the sixth to secure the victory.

In game two, the River Hawks jumped out to an early 1-0 lead behind three first inning hits, including an RBI single to left from sophomore
Brenna Davenport (Merrimack, N.H.). Strong pitching by See kept UMass Lowell in the lead for nearly four innings, before a two-run double from Hofstra's Alex Goeke gave the Pride the 2-1 advantage at the bottom of the fourth.

Hofstra added another run in the fifth to hold off the River Hawks, despite an RBI off a double down the left field line from senior
Olivia Labbe (Rochester, Mass.) to cut the final score down to 3-2.

UMass Lowell closes out its four-game set at Hofstra Sunday, March 21, with another doubleheader beginning at noon.
