LOWELL, Mass. – The UMass Lowell women's basketball team (3-3, 0-0 AE) is set to take on the UMass Minutewomen (8-1, 0-0 A10) on Sunday afternoon. Tip-off is slated for 12:00 p.m. at the Mullins Center.

LOOKING AT UMASS LOWELL
The River Hawks enter Sunday after taking down Cornell, 53-44, for their first road win of the season and second straight win. Junior Kaylen Banwareesingh (Bronx, N.Y.) added a spark off the bench, picking up 10 points, seven rebounds, two blocks, and two steals. Senior Kharis Idom (Orlando, Fla.) added 10 points to surpass 800 career points, the fourth River Hawk to reach the mark. Sophomore Erin Lofaro (Marlboro, N.Y.) tallied a team-high five assists and eight rebounds and added four points.

SCOUTING MASSACHUSETTS
The Minutewomen welcome the River Hawks after taking down Fairfield (74-61) on December 1. Massachusetts has only one loss this season, coming against #13 Iowa State (76-71) on November 28. Sam Breen led the team with 22 points and 16 rebounds against Fairfield. Destiney Philoxy picked up 17 points and a team-high nine assists.
A WIN WOULD
A win would be a third straight victory for the River Hawks and their first win over Massachusetts since the 2018-19 season.

FREE THROW SUCCESS
The River Hawks have had plenty of success from the free throw line to start the 2021-22 season, going 62-87 through five games. UMass Lowell shot a season-high 7-8 from the stripe against Michigan on November 16 and went 15-19 on November 13 against Bryant and November 24 against CCSU.

A DIME A DOZEN
Kharis Idom and freshman Ivory Finley (Minneapolis, Minn.) lead the team with eight steals each through six games this season. Junior Shamyjha Price (Pittsburgh, Pa.)  has recorded seven steals, while sophomore Janai Edmonds (Worcester, Mass.)  picked up five this season.

UP NEXT
The River Hawks return home to take on Towson in a midweek matchup on December 8 at the Costello Athletic Center.
